Milk powder

prices rise at

Jodia Bazar

RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Milk-powder prices rose while the prices of plastic mouldings and jute goods (twine) tended lower on the Jodia Bazar on Saturday. The other commodities maintained a steady outlook.

Powdered milk, particularly skimmed, rose sizeably while full cream instant and sweetened milk kept to their previous close. The rise is attributed to the phenomenal rise in prices abroad from $ 1800 per ton to $ 2400 per ton. According to press reports, traders allege that the major dairy farmers of the country have bought in bulk to meet shortages of fresh milk pushing up prices.

Skimmed Haleeb was up by Rs 30, Nur Pur by Rs 20, Luthiania and Alpha by Rs 25 each, Poland and Farmers Jack by Rs 50 each and full cream instant Bailie Gold by Rs 30.

The declining trend in plastic mouldings did not change. Traders and commercial importers have been struggling for survival with their backs to the wall.
