FAISALABAD: Financial irregularities have been reported in Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) of Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) where advance payment was made to a contractor for the purchase of sludge pumping machinery allegedly in violation of the prescribed rules and regulation.

Wasa awarded a contract for the supply of sludge pumping machinery to a contracting firm. The contractor was favoured by making advance payment of Rs 27 lakh inspite of the fact that he had not provided this machinery.

According to reports a team of anti-corruption establishment on Saturday conducted a surprise raid and took the concerned record into its custody while Director Construction Wasa, Haji Muhammad Akram has admitted that the said machinery has neither arrived in Wasa store nor at its place of erection.-APP
