KARACHI: ASF air guards, who won freedom at the risk of their life on July 31, from the captivity of dacoits, will be honoured on Sunday when Defence Secretary Salim Jillani will award them 'rank' and 'certificate', besides cash benefits.

ASF air guards Khan Afsar and Mehmood Ahmed, displaying valour and exemplary courage, won their freedom from their kidnappers on July 31, after a 4-month ordeal in the dense forest close to Indus river.

Seven PIA employees and passengers were kidnapped on April 22 this year on their way to Larkana from Moenjodaro.

The government has commended the services of the two ASF air guards, who killed the two dacoits and won freedom for all the captives.

Rank and other benefits will be awarded to the ASF air guards for their struggle at a ceremony at the ASF Headquarters on Sunday which will be attended, among others, by high civil and military officials.-APP
