Loadshedding
likely from
tomorrow
KARACHI: A KESC spokesman has announced that due to the shut down of 500 KV Guddu to Dadu transmission line circuit at Wapda's end from August 18 to 27, KESC will face 300 M.W. power shortage which is presently being supplied by Wapda to meet the power requirements of the city.
According to a KESC press release, the KESC may resort to limited loadshedding in the city during August 18 to 27 because of discontinuation of power supply from Wapda.
The loadshedding, however, if resorted to, will be carried out during day time in all residential areas for two hours at each feeder to the tune of 50 MW from 8.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m. During evening peak hours i.e. from 7.00 p.m. to 12.00 midnight. The loadshedding will be carried out to the tune of 180 MW in all industrial areas for five hours on each feeder and 120 MW in residential areas for one hour at each feeder.
However, the spokesman said, the duration of loadshedding may prolong due to unforeseen reason. It may be pointed out here that city's peak power demand, at present, is about 1350 MW while the KESC actual generation capability is about 1075 MW.
The KESC spokesman has regretted for the inconvenience to be caused by the loadshedding.
