KARACHI: S.M. Yahya, Chairman, Korangi Association of Trade & Industry, has expressed anguish over the arbitrary and unilateral revision of octroi schedule by KMC, wherein octroi on certain items has been increased by more than 10 percent.

Lamenting on the apathy of the KMC authorities Yahya said on Thursday that he had asked the chairman of octroi committee of KMC for an appointment of a delegation of the Korangi Association of Trade & Industry to discuss the issue of arbitrary increase in the octroi rates, but, even after a lapse of 15 days, no favourable response has been received.

Yahya feared that KMC authorities wanted to introduce the revised unilateral rates of octroi without giving a chance to the industrial associations of Karachi to discuss the issue and find out some amicable solution to the problem.

Yahya urged the KMC Administrator not to introduce the revised schedule of octroi, unless the objections are invited from the affectees and the matter is discussed thereadbare with the delegations of industrial associations in Karachi.
