HYDERABAD: Sindh Food Minister Syed Mohsin Shah Bukhari has expressed dissatisfaction over the slow transportation of wheat and its availability in the city.

He was presiding over a high level meeting here on Wednesday to review wheat stock position in government godowns in Hyderabad and Karachi. The minister directed the food officials to expedite the transportation of wheat from interior of Sindh and Punjab with in a week.

He also directed them to issue warning to contractors to transport wheat within a given time to avoid action against them.

Shah asked food officials of Hyderabad region to expedite wheat transportation to Nawabshah and other districtss in Sukkur region and complete the task within a week.

He said failing in this task will force the department to initiate strict action against the contractors as well as food officials.

Provincial Food Secretary Noor Ahmad Shah informed the minister that 32,000 tons of wheat was acquired from PASCO Punjab, 15,000 tons from Nawabshah, 10,000 tons each from Khairpur and Nosheroferoz.

He said directives have been issued to transport wheat from Nawabshah to Hyderabad.

The minister directed the officials to keep eyes on the prices of atta (flour) in the city and take immediate action against those flour mills selling atta at higher prices and cancel their licences.

Director Food, Deputy Director Food and other officials also attended the meeting.-APP
