HYDERABAD: The raid on MQM office and arrest of at least 10 persons late Tuesday night created tension in Hyderabad and Latifabad as youngsters went on rampage and resorted to aerial firing through out the night.

According to reports, a large contingent of law enforcement agencies raided the MQM zonal office around 9 0'clock and after ransack in the office, arrested four persons namely Mohammad Akhtar, Fahim, Jehangir and Sartaj.

Law enforcers are also reported to have misbehaved with the women folk were conducting the office affairs.

Police also seized the record of the office and took away fax machine, and two telephone sets.

According to eye witnesses, police stormed the adjacent houses and apprehended few persons including a crippled boy.

A police spokesman told Business Recorder that police had raided the office following a tip off that Mohammad Akhtar and his other accomplices allegedly involved in the murder of Ms Aziza Bano, were present in the office.

Police admitted the arrest of only four persons while eye witnesses said that 10 persons were rounded up during the raid.

Following the raid a large number of women besieged the city police station and protested against the arrest of innocent youngsters.

As the news of the raid and arrests spread the twin cities of Hyderabad and Latifabad reverberated with sounds of gun fire.

The situation in the twin cities continues to remain tense.
