HONG KONG: Gold closed little changed from its easier local opening after trading within a 30 US cent range all day, dealers said.
Bullion ended at US$384.30/80 an ounce, down from New York's US$385.20/70 close. It opened here at US$384.20/70.
"The strong U.S. dollar prompted early selling but downside support is seen at US$384 on short-covering and physical buying," a senior dealer said. "Most traders are watching the U.S. dollar's next movements and I think gold will hold in a range of US$384-388 in the short term." Local gold ended HK$1 lower at HK$3,546 a tael.-Reuter
