Bangladesh tea prices higher
CHITTAGONG: Bangladeshi tea prices rose on higher demand from overseas buyers at the weekly auction, which was disrupted by Tuesday's nationwide six-hour strike.
"There was a quite a strong demand for bold and larger brokens at higher rates from Polish and Russian buyers," said one broker.
The buyers for Jordan and Sudan also operated actively, pushing the prices of plainer brokens higher. The average tea price was 46.80 taka, 0.75 taka up from the previous sale. Some 638,123 kg of teas were sold at the auction. The next auction will be held on August 22 with an expected offer of 774,400 kg.-Reuter
