Add Site Stadium

On the occasion, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone as a token of recognition of formal inauguration of sport activities at Site Stadium.

The Chief Minister distributed the trophies and prizes to the winner and runner team's captains and man of the match, best bowler, batsman, fielder, wicket keeper which names are Junaid Ali Shah, Nadeem Malik, Shahid Ali Khan and Tasleem Arif (ex-test cricketer), respectively.

The runner trophy went to Dr. Arshad Vohra Captain Site Chairman XI.

Earlier, Yakub Karim, Chairman in his welcome address said that it was indeed a great honour for the industrialists of Site Area that after the visits of the President and the Prime Minister, the head of Sindh province was among us on this most auspicious and revered day i.e. our Independence Day, a day very dear to all of us because on this day we became a free nation after a long struggle and lot of sacrifices.

He said today was totally a different day for the industrialists of the area. Today they had gathered to celebrate the Independence Day and to ease the tension prevalent in the city due to law and order situation and to create fraternity and brotherhood among the various people residing and working in Site Area although they may belong to different provinces but, in fact they are all Pakistanis.

They have been residing and working in this area since September 26, 1947, the day the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah visited Site and laid the foundation stone for the establishment of a textile mill.

The Quaid had visualized that one day in this desert the humming of the industries will echo and the bread and butter of millions will be possible through these industries. This has proved a reality.

More than 2,500 industries are operating day and night in this industrial area, the largest in the country, mother of all industrial estates, spread over nearly 5,000 acres of land and providing jobs to more than 5 lakh people directly or indirectly.-APP
