FUDGED APOLOGY
LONDON: British veterans held prisoner by Japan during World War Two accused the Tokyo government on Tuesday of "fudging" an apology for its wartime actions and said the battle for financial compensation would continue.
Arthur Titherington, Secretary of the Japanese Labour Camps Survivors Association, expressed disappointment at Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama's landmark statement of apology on the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two.-Reuter
