ADBP launches

tree plantation

campaign

ISLAMABAD: The Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP) launched its tree plantation campaign, on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day.

Badruddin Zahidi, Chiarman has kicked off the campaign by planting saplings of aerocaria in the compound of Bank's headquarters and sapling of conifer at ADBP farm. Other senior officers also participated by planting saplings at the farm.

Pakistan Environmental Protection Council (PEPC) has assigned the ADBP to plant trees on 20,000 acres of land (9000 acres in Punjab, 5000 acres in Sindh, 3500 acres in NWFP and 2,500 acres in Balochistan.

Avenue cities of plantation of 20,000 acres of land assigned to the bank include Islamabad, Faisalabad), Mirpurkhas and Khairpur, Peshawar and Pishin.

To assist PEPC programme and also to create general awareness in rural population to grow more and more trees, the bank has laid down a "plant 3 trees" condition for grant of fresh loans so that the country could be made a pollution free and Greener. For this purpose, the bank has established a full fledged department to look after its afforestation programme.-APP
