21 killed,
scores hurt in
city firing
incidents
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: At least 21 people were killed and several others injured in different incidents of firing in the city on Monday and Tuesday.
A total of 16 people, including a Naval Musician and the brother of slain SHO Bahadur Ali were killed in Independence Day.
Aijaz Afzal, member of the Naval band, was killed at the Mausoleum of the Quaid-i-Azam at 8.15 a.m. when a stray bullet hit him in the neck. At the time off attack Sindh Governor Kamal Azfar and Chief Minister Abdullah Shah were offering Fateha at the Mazar.
Security staff, including police commandoes, and other high officials were taken by surprise by the attack. Security officials claimed that the assault was made by a .22 rifle fitted with silencer from the top of some building situated in the vicinity of the Mazar.
However, they failed to detect the direction of firing. Eye-witnesses present at the Mazar claimed that the attack was aimed at the Governor and the Chief Minister.
Bodies of Abdul Wahid, Abdul Rahim, Mohammad Yaqoob, Abdul Hamid, Zulfiqar Ahmed and Sooha Masih an ASI of Pakistan Qaumi Razakar, were found lying in a pool of blood in a Coaster parked near UP Moure, New Karachi, Sector 11-J. They were apparently blind folded and their hands and legs were tied, before being done to death.
Police sources said that the deceased had been picked up from various places, herded in the Coaster and gunned down shortly before the vehicle was abandoned in a side street. The Coaster had been snatched from Buffer Zone at about 3 a.m the same morning.
The terrorists also left two chits. Both read: An Independence Day gift for Naseerullah Khan Babar.
Zafar Ali, elder brother of slain SHO Bahadur Ali, was killed in targeted firing near Arshi Apartment Federal 'B' Area.
Mohammad Parvez was shot dead and Farooq was injured in a firing incident in Orangi Town.
Mohammad Rahim was killed in sniper firing in New Karachi.
The body of a young woman was recovered from a bag lying near Orangi Town Sector 11-E.
Two unidentified bodies were found lying near Mohammad Ali Jaohar Road, Orangi Town, Sector 11, Block-L. Both the bodies bore marks of torture and bullets. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Nasima Bibi was killed in sniper firing in Zaman Town, Korangi. Her body was shifted to JPMC.
An unidentified body was recovered from a bag found lying in Orangi Town, Sector 13. The body was removed to Civil Hospital.
Yet another unidentified body was found lying near Water Chourangi, Site Industrial Area. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital.
An unidentified young man was killed in sniper firing near Sabzi Mandi. Another young man was gunned down near Kakri Ground.
Yet another unidentified body of a 30-year-old man was found lying near Nadia Market Nazimabad No.2.
Mohammad Iqbal was killed in firing in Qazafi Chowk, Orangi Town.
Irfan, 14, Ramzan, 12, Asif 16, Imran 15, and two others drowned at Gadani Beach.
Mrs Raza Gul was injured in sniper firing in Gulzar-e-Hijri. Mohammad Faisal was injured in firing at Tariq Road. Jan Yousuf was injured in firing in Chakiwara area.
