More than 400 kids abandoned
in Mexico city
MEXICO CITY: Parents have abandoned more than 400 children, from newborns to 12-year-olds, in the streets and parks of Mexico City in the first seven months of the year, according to an article Saturday in La Jornada.
The daily, citing figures from the local prosecutors office, said six of every 10 of those abandoned suffered from a physical or mental disability.
Two-thirds of the children end up being returned to their families, with the rest going to orphanges, according to the daily, which predicted this year's total would surpass last year's 600 abandoned in the world's largest city.-APP
