withdraw new
IT return form
RECORDER REPORT
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad S.I.T.E Association Chairman Mazharul Haq has demanded of the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to withdraw the new income tax form self-assessment as it is difficult even for the educated tax payers to fill them.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said that according to the new income tax forms, the telephone and electricity bills, children's tuition fees, expenditure on cars and travel abroad had also been included the record of which was not available with the tax payers, and added that it was practically impossible to comply with the instructions contained in the forms.
He said that the main objective of the self-assessment scheme was to bring more tax payers into the taxation net but the new tax forms will scare away the prospective tax payers.
He said the literacy rate in the country was very low and even the income tax practitioners were faced with a host of difficulties in filling the forms.
He regretted that the proposals of the trade bodies to simplify the forms had been ignored.
He appealed to the Prime Minister, Minister of State for Finance and The CBR Chairman to withdraw the new income tax forms in the overall interest of tax collection.
