RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Prices moved both ways on the Jodia Bazar on the week-opening day, where trading activity was low. There were few changes except in milk powder, plastic mouldings, Kirana and dry fruits, chemicals, and dyes. Tea was maintained at the overnight level.

MILK POWDER continued upward surge as bulk purchases by alleged few investors have nullified effects of government steps to pass on the gains to the consumers. Skimmed (per bag of 25 kgs) Haleeb turned higher by Rs 20, Nurpur rose by Rs 30, former jack however lost Rs 50, full cream 5-Star up Rs 50, creame shed Rs 30, Saya up Rs 50, Mix Me conceded Rs 30, Bailie gold gave in Rs 55, Corolac and Green Flage climbed down by Rs 50, and Kerry Gold turned weaker by Rs 75.

PLASTIC MOULDINGS compound (per lb) HDPE film Tipelin, mobil and Korea retreated by 25 paisa, HDPE injection depreciated by 50 paisa, HDPE blow Tipelin unchanged at Rs 26.25, Dilene shed 25 paisa, Russian lowered by the same margin, LLDPE Korea yielded 50 paisa, Ladene declined 10 paisa, and Escorene shed 15 paisa, polyporpylene film grade Tipelin lost 50 paisa while Amoco shed 55 paisa, polystyrene high impact Saudia conceded Rs 2, PVC Korea shed 50 paisa, and Russian turned weaker by Re one.

KIRANA and dry fruits were generally higher. White pepper was up Rs 100, White pepper Singapore yielded Rs 50, White pepper Ceylon shed Rs 100. Black pepper, however rose by Rs 50, mace up Rs 100, small cardamom Tanzania gained Rs 280, big cardamom up Rs 50 dry ginger up by the same amount, sago up Rs 30, almond katha gave in Rs 20, raisin was up Rs 80, apricot I conceded Rs 25, and turned stronger by the same amount.

CHEMICALS and dyes were firm generally at last close but sporadic changes were also noted. Sodium sulphide China yielded Rs 9, intrasperse yellow GBA shed Rs 5 reactive dyes from India Orange H 2R gave in Rs 5, rangolite "C" China retreated by Re one and the same item from Germany rose by Rs 1.50.

Jute goods stayed put with a solitary change in (twine) 40x2 Mehran which lost Re one.
