violation of
market body
schedule
RECORDER REPORT
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Chamber of commerce and Industry (HCCI) at a meeting with the chairman of Hyderabad Market Committee, Saleem Mangrio and the secretary, Inamul Haq has severely criticised the violation of market committee schedule for over charging on all items by the contractor.
Addressing the meeting, the chamber president Yousuf Ali Bhatti charged that the market committee officials and contractor were recovering tax in violation of law which had created unrest among the business committee and hatred against the government.
He pointed out that tax could only be levied on agricultural produce according to the schedule but even electrical goods, biscuits and flour were being taxed.
He also accused the market committee of double taxation.
The meeting also demanded of the government to abolish contract system and charge market committee fee only at one place where agricultural produce was sold and purchased.
