Bandits kill 13 in khairpur

HYDERABAD: Bandits attacked a village marooned by monsoon floods in the southern Pakistan province of Sindh on Friday and shot dead 13 residents in an apparent revenege attack, police said.

They said about 30 bandits appeared at Abdul Lateef Mumnani village of the northern Khairpur Mirs district early on Friday when about 500 residents were still asleep.

The bandits opened fire, killing 13 villagers, including two women, and later escaped in their boats, the police said.

They said the attack appeared to have been carried out to revenge the killing of two bandits in a gun-battle with the residents of the same village four months ago.-Reuter
