India concerned about Chinese help to Pakistan

NEW DELHI:India told Beijing on Wednesday that China's help in Pakistan's nuclear and missile programme was having an adverse impact on regional stability.

"We did convey our concern that Chinese assistance to Pakistan's missile and nuclear programme had an adverse impact on regional stability to which we have been obliged to respond in a restrained manner," a foreign ministry spokesman said at the end of security talks between China and India in Beijing.

India has consistently pointed the finger at China, with which it fought a brief border war in 1962, for offering strategic assistance to Pakistan.

Indian strategic experts and commentators have also criticised the United States for turning a blind eye to Chinese nuclear and missile assistance to Pakistan, while stepping up pressure on New Delhi to give up its nuclear ambitions.-Reuters
