British Airways' top 10 awards for cargo agents

LAHORE: Pakistan is a potential market for air cargo business, and during the last few years, the volume of cargo airlifted by British Airways has almost doubled.

This was observed by British Airways Manager for South Asia, Baba Dewani, while addressing an award-giving ceremony held by the airlines for air cargo agents here at a local hotel on Tuesday night.

He said the airline was endeavouring hard to provide best possible facilities and incentives to its cargo agents so that they could work more efficiently and dedicatedly.

Mohammad Shafiq, Manager for Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, said that the airline started its cargo flights from Pakistan in November 1978, and since then its business, especially from Sialkot has been growing rapidly.

To facilitate its valued customers and meet the growing volume of cargo from Pakistan, especially the sports goods from Silakot, the airline was planning to enhance its cargo operations soon.

Later, the British Airways manager gave away awards to the following top 10 cargo agents: Expeditor International, Xel Freight, Fritz Cargo Companies, Intel Cargo, Royal Cargo, Pakistan Cargo, Rapid Cargo, Pack Cargo, PCA Trade Cargo and Karachi Cargo. The ceremony was followed by a colourful musical show.
