All approved refunds will be cleared: Shaukat

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Wednesday, the government is making efforts to pay all the approved refunds which will help boost business activity in the country.

This year we will try to provide more refunds and in February alone we paid refunds to the tune of Rs 6 billion, he said in his brief chat with newsmen.

The total amount of refund is Rs 15 or 16 billion, he added.

Responding to a question, the Minister said, the revenue collection in gross terms is on target.

The IMF mission is expected to arrive within the next four weeks, he told a questioner.

To another question, he said, the turnover tax will be announced in couple of weeks.

Shaukat said the Tax Ombudsman has been selected, who is a retired judge of the Supreme Court. His name will be announced in a few days. APP
