EU asked to

impose sanctions

against India

MIRPUR (AJK): Councillor of Britain's Luton City Council Dave Taylor, has called upon the European Union to immediately impose economic sanctions against India for committing genocide of innocent Kashmiris.

He was addressing the reception hosted by Mirpur Development Authority Chairman Chaudhry Mohammad Hanif here on Sunday night in honour of the visiting 12-member British delegation.

Dave Taylor urged the European Union to impose sanctions against New Delhi till she was prepared to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.

"It is the moral and paramount duty of European community to take prompt notice of Indian reign of terror and violence unleashed by Indian occupation forces in occupied Kashmir," the British councillor said.

He said European Union has the economic strength to impose sanctions against India.

Taylor said signs of Indian brutalities witnessed by British delegation during current visit to the AJK-based camps of held Kashmir refugees, are solid proof of Indian atrocities in the occupied Valley.

Supporting Kashmir cause and especially Kashmiris' just struggle for right to self-determination, he said India was trying to mislead world community presenting Kashmir issue as territorial dispute with Pakistan.

He said world community has now started realising the ground reality of the Kashmir problem which involved the right to self-determination of 13 million people of Jammu Kashmir state.

"We need to bring all cases of Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir to the notice of international media to apprise the world of real picture of the Kashmir issue," Dave Taylor said.

He said persistent massive violation of human rights in occupied Kashmir by India is a matter of grave concern for the entire world and especially the European community which may play role to get Kashmir problem resolved by exerting pressure on India to fulfil the commitments which it had made to Kashmiris 53 years back.

UK Councillor Dave Teylor said the time was approaching fast when the entire world will focus its full attention to get Kashmir issue resolved. He said with the passage of time Kashmiris' struggle for right to self-determination and this global issue was gradually getting coverage in the world media.

Referring to proposed South Asian visit of US President, the British councillor said Clinton should also visit Pakistan to assess Kashmir situation to materialise his declared interest for resolving this global dispute.ÑAPP
