Add Bus accident

So far 40 bodies had been recovered from the canal during a massive search operation by divers, volunteers and area police.

Commissioner Larkana division Nazar Hussain Mahar has declared an emergency in the hospitals of Shahdadkot, Jacobabad and Larkana and maximum steps had been taken to provide medical aid to the injured.

Sources of Garhi Khairo Police Station said on phone that about 100 people of a marriage party travelling in the bus on way back from Tambu (Balochistan) to Shahdadkot. Master Ali Nawaz, head of the family however, miraculously escaped, his son (bridegroom) and the bride, his mother, two brothers and close relatives, had all died in the accident.

Most of the casualties were children from age 5 to 15 and women. They had lost lives because could not get out of the bus after it overturned into the canal, the area's sources said.

The number of women who died in the accident was 14, children, 36 a sources of DIG's Control Centre Larkana told APP. According to him those injured were 8 men, 4 women and 13 children.

Eye witnessed said that the bus was overloaded and due to rash driving its tie-rod broke down after which it overturned while falling into the canal.ÑAPP
