SUKKUR: About 52 persons including women and children of a marriage party died in an accident on Monday when a bus carrying them fell into Saifullah Magsi Canal near Garhi Khairo town, about 90 km from Jacobabad.

An ASI of Garhi Khairo Police station, Riaz Ahmad said on phone that about 25 other people were injured and various parties of volunteers and area police had reached the site for rescue efforts.

According to the police officer, the bus carrying a marriage party from district Tambu, (Balochistan), was heading for Shahdadkot (Larkana) and due to fast speed and overcrowding the driver lost control, as a result of which the bus fell into the canal.

DIG Larkana Bachal Sangri, SP Larkana and other officials had rushed to the accident site and were supervising the rescue efforts.

The names of the dead and the injured could not be ascertained immediately due to remoteness of the area and lack of communication.ÑAPP
