'No more time extension in vehicle amnesty scheme'

LAHORE: Customs Collector Aftab Anwar Baloch has said that there will be no further extension in last date for regularising non-duty paid vehicles under the 'amnesty scheme.'

He said this during a meeting of Regional Anti-Smuggling Coordination Committee, held in the Customs House here on Friday.

The meeting was attended by officials of Anti-Narcotics Force, Railways Police, Collectotrate of Customs Sambrial, Collectorate of Customs Multan, home department besides representatives of the Lahore Chamber.

The collector advised the owners of smuggled and non-duty paid vehicles to take advantage of the scheme and get their vehicles regularised before March 15.

After that, he warned, all illegal vehicles will not only be confiscated, but a legal action will also be taken against the owners.

The collector on this occasion also appreciated the performance of the anti-smuggling wing and said that during February its performance outclassed other departments.

The meeting also reviewed in details various proposals about customs duty on smuggled articles in the local markets.

Speaking on the occasion the LCCI representatives assured the collector of their full co-operation and assistance to eliminate the menace of smuggling.
