Indian team lauds CE's peace initiative

LAHORE: The Chairperson of Guild of Service, India, Dr. V. Mohini Giri, has said that the Kashmir issue is the bone of contention between India and Pakistan, hence the issue should be resolved through negotiations.
Talking to a select group of journalists here on Thursday, Dr. Giri, who is currently visiting Pakistan along with a 39-members Indian women delegation, said no weapon is as strong as peace adding that their visit is a first step in generating public opinion in the region that people want peace. She stated that after returning home, they will tell their politicians and general public that they have brought a message of peace from Pakistan.
She said members of the delegation are convinced that people of Pakistan want to resolve all issues with India for stability in the region and bilateral relations with India.
A senior human rights activist from India, Dr. Syeda S. Hameed said on the occasion that time has come for the women of two countries to take initiative for establishing peace and good relations between India and Pakistan.
She added it was for the first time that a big delegation of Indian women from all walks of life came here to support the cause for peace.
She was of the view that both India and Pakistan should impose complete ban on maintaining or further developing nuclear weapons. She said the delegation found General Pervez Musharraf a gender friendly person and laud his peace initiative.
