'Exporters should raise
value-added items export'

MULTAN: Pakistan exporters should increase the exports of value-added and non-traditional itmes abroad to earn maximum foreign exchange because our trade deficit had increased to one billion dollars, said Director Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Haider Raza while delivering his speech at a seminar in Bahawalpur on Tuesday.
Takling with reference of prevailing economic condition of Pakistan, he said that national development was impossible without meeting the targets of exports. He said that the EPB has planned to organise seminars in almost all cities of the country to educate the exporters about the buyers in world market and requirements of different countries.
He further said that Bahawalpur division exports at least one/third of total cotton production every year. Fazal Qader Qalbani, Collector Customs, Sales Tax and Central Excise said that every possible facility will be provided to the exporters from Multan dry-port and assured full cooperation in this regard.
Multan Dry Port General Manager Major Javed Musarrat (Retd), said that Pakistan had a single port, this dry port network was laid in the country to facilitate the importers and exporters at the nearest to their home.
The Deputy Director EPB Zafar Omar Khan explained the process of registration as exporters.
