ISLAMABAD: The display and carrying of arms will be prohibited from Wednesday (March 1) in line with the decision taken by the government.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Interior told APP here on Tuesday that display of arms is punishable with imprisonment for a term extendable up to seven years or with fine or with both.

Same punishment will be applicable to those involve in aerial firings at Basant or marriage parties, the spokesman further warned.

Giving the details, he said, "display of arms at fairs, in gatherings, processions of political; ceremonial or sectarian nature, in the premises of courts of law; public offices; educational institutions and hostels or boarding houses affiliated is a cognizable offence under section 11 (B) of the Pakistan Ordinance 1965".ÑAPP
