Australia to impart toxicology training to Pak scientists
RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: Australia has agreed to impart training to Pakistani scientists in toxicology, it is reliably learnt.
This was decided in a meeting held recently in Islamabad, at present the country has no laboratory to detect toxic affects in food grains and Australia is also likely to provide equipment for testing, sources said.
It was important for the country to have properly trained scientists in toxicology as previously it was not possible to detect toxicology in food grains, as neither expertise nor equipment was available in the country to detect it, the sources said.
The lack of properly trained people and equipment led to allowing import of toxic vetch. If proper equipment was available then the complaints about high level of pesticides in onions could also be detected.
The laboratory will also help in boosting our food exports abroad as level of neuro-toxin could be detected.
