LHC issues notices to DAG

LAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court issued notice to the deputy attorney general for March 8 in a petition filed by Shahida Faisal, praying to the court to declare the detention of her husband Faisal Saleh Hayat as illegal and without lawful authority.

The petitioner contended that they had reached an agreement with the United Bank Limited (UBL) and had paid the amount demanded by it. She further contended that they were paying the installments regularly in accordance with the agreement.

She, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the respondents to produce her husband before the court and set him free.

The court, after hearing her counsel at length, issued notices to the law officer.

The bench also issued notice to Deputy Attorney General for March 09 in a petition filed by wives of two directors of Ittefaq Group of Industries, Mohammad Akram and Mukhtar Hussain against their detention.

The petitioners contended that their husbands were detained by the government on October 21 last and till now they were not released. They contended that they had nothing to do with the alleged misdeeds of the Sharif family and nor were required to the police in any criminal case.

They, therefore, prayed to the court to declare their detention as illegal and without lawful authority.

They also prayed to the court to direct the respondent officials to produce them before the court and set them free.

The court, after hearing the petitioners' counsel at length, issued notices to the law officer.
