KARACHI: Sugar sustained gain on the grain markets on Thursday where fairly large trading activity was noted.

Sugar, reportedly in surplus for exports, rose in the wholesale market again. The rise this time was in inferior type Rs. 15 to Rs. 1970 and better type rose by Rs. 10 to Rs. 1980. Gur and Khandsari stayed put.

Elsewhere, til seed new inferior rose by Rs. 50 to Rs. 1275 and better type up by same amount to Rs. 1300 and cottonseed oilcakes rose by Rs. 5 to Rs. 365.

On the cereals side urad Punjab was quoted at Rs. 2500 and Irri while broken better type was quoted at Rs. 695.
