'Congress on Muslim
women in science'
recommendations
FEZ, (Morocco): The International Congress on Muslim Women in Science, which concluded here Tuesday, has recommended that Muslim women should be encouraged to involve themselves in various scientific disciplines, and to enable them to discharge responsibility in the development of society.
The congress recommended that the special peculiarities of a woman as a worker, a researcher, a mother and homemaker should be taken into consideration, so as to facilitate her work and her social and family responsibilities.
The congress also recommended to the organisations concerned with the employment of women to avail her the conditions that are conducive to her professional equality with a man. It also recommended the adjustment of the primary and secondary educational systems, so as to facilitate the entry of woman into scientific disciplines at the university level.
The congress stressed the necessity of encouraging research projects that have a special bearing on women and of granting them scholarships for further study. It addressed an invitation to the specialised international and regional organisations to study the reality of the presence of women in various scientific sectors, and to delve into the reasons for their inability to play their proper role in the scientific fields. The purpose is so that this aspect could be dealt with, and get beneficial solutions for raising the woman's level of competence in the field of scientific research.ÑPPI
