Collaborated
efforts to boost
farm output

FAISALABAD: Agricultural scientist and former adviser, Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Dr Abdul Hafeez has stressed collaborated efforts to give boost to agriculture production in order to meet the food requirements of growing population.
He said that there is an acute problem of irrigation water in the country as a result of which the overall agricultural production is being reduced thereby creating food problem for the growing population of the country. He said this on the occasion of 51st Old Boys gathering of the Alumni Association in the Iqbal Auditorium.
He said to meet the food challenges of 21st century and to be at par with the developed states of the world, we would have to increase agricultural production of wheat at the rate of 5% per year.
He said that both Pakistan and India have common agricultural problems particularly with regard to the food requirements.
He welcomed the old boys of the university and praised them for their remarkable achievements and scientific contributions in the field of agriculture, an Indian delegation led by Dr Jagjit Singh also attended the ceremony.
