CJ names special bench to hear ban on rallies
RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice Irshad Hassan Khan has appointed a special three-member bench to hear the Attorney General Aziz Munshi justification of the government ban on strikes and political rallies.
The bench, presided over by the CJ, will include Justice Munir A Sheikh and Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui and is to meet here on Thursday.
The Chief Justice had used his suo motu powers in issuing notice to the Attorney General for an explanation on March 20. The government spokesmen had later explained that the ban was to thwart any anti-American rallies before and during the visit of US President Bill Clinton.
