ADBP clarification
KARACHI: The Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan has clarified a news item regarding "workers demand for audit of sports directorate," which appeared in daily "Business Recorder" Karachi dated of March 26.
In a clarification issued the bank asserts that ADBP sports performance has always been satisfactory in all the available fields. In field of cricket although ADBP lost to Islamabad Cricket Association in initial match only by 5 runs but it defeated one of the strongest teams of Rawalpindi division by a big margin of 7 wickets only in 28 overs despite of absence of four of its top players.
Loosing just one initial match to strong team does not reflect the poor performance of a team as top teams of some other institutions have also lost their initial matches to divisional teams of Peshawar and Karachi respectively. ADBP has still to play two other matches in the preliminary round and is determined to give good performance. It is because of the excellent performance of ADBP players during the current season of 1999-2000 that one of its top scorer. Imran Abbas was selected for Pakistan Cricket Team against Sri Lanka.
The release further says that the funds are being utilised as per standing instructions of Pakistan Sports Federation and the expenditure incurred so far this year are far less than the expenditure incurred during the previous years.ÑPR
