Hearing in Ghinwa
appeal for succession
certificate adjourned
KARACHI: A Sindh High Court (SHC) bench comprising Chief Justice Syed Deedar Hussain Shah adjourned for a date in office an application filed by Ghinwa Bhutto widow of Mir Murtaza Bhutto for grant of succession certificate.
When the matter came up for hearing Farooq H Naek advocate appearing as counsel for Begum Nusrat Bhutto sought time for filing objection.
The heirs include Ghinwa Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Fatima Bhutto and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (Junior). The succession certificate pertains to savings accounts and defence saving certificates owned by Late Mir Murtaza Bhutto worth Rs 1.828 million.
Meanwhile another division bench of SHC comprising Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and Justice Ghulam Rabbani dismissed an appeal preferred by three convicts Abdul Basheer, Jehangir and Ata Mohammed.
All the three accused were awarded 14 years terms each along with a fine of Rs 1 million each by a Narcotics Court. The bench however modified the sentence reducing the jail term to four years and fine to rupees 30,000
Another division bench of SHC comprising Justice Mohammed Roshan Essani Justice Ghulam Nabi Soomro dismissed bail application of under trial accused Riaz, Tariq and Shehzad.
The accused were arrested in case of snatching a Taxi from complainant Mazhar from the jurisdiction of PS Federal B Industrial area police station on August 10, 1999. They were arrested on Aug 17 during snap checking by the police.
Javed Akhtar, state counsel, opposed the bail application on ground that the snatched vehicles as well as un-licensed arms were recovered from their possession at the time of their arrest.
The bench after hearing state counsel dismissed the bail application of the accused.ÑAPP
