E Trade to offer online stock trading in Denmark

MENLO PARK, Calif: E Trade Group Inc, the No. 2 U.S. Internet brokerage, said on Monday it would start offering online stock trading in Denmark, in a move to expand overseas.

E Trade, which is based in Menlo Park, Calif., said it formed a joint venture with Danish brokerage firm Difko Borsmaeglerselskab to offer the service through E Trade Danmark. E Trade now offers online stock trading through ventures in nine countries outside the United States: South Korea, Japan, Britain, Sweden, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Denmark.

E Trade aims to capitalise on Denmark's heavy Internet use. One in three Danish families has access to the Web, and some 350,000 Danes use Internet banking services, according to E Trade.-Reuters
