Dittu hails Clinton's visit

KARACHI: FPCCI President, Fazal-ur-Rehman Dittu has welcomed the US President Bill Clinton's message given in his speech that Pakistan will be made an engine of growth and economic prosperity.

In his statement issued on Monday, Dittu said that the visit of US President to Pakistan was quite significant and likely to bring positive impact on the existing trade and economic relations between the two countries.

He suggested that the government should convene a business convention to discuss at length the current economic issued in the perspective of regional and global scenario and prepare a road map for achieving rapid economic growth.

The convention may be held either in Islamabad or Karachi where prominent businessmen may be invited from all over the country, he added.

Dittu congratulated the Chief Executive Gen Pervez Musharraf for announcing the plan for holding the local bodies elections in the country.

He termed it as a welcome step and remarked that it showed his avowed intention to complete the process of demonstration in the country.ÑAPP
