Add govt to review ban

Earlier addressing the police officers at the passing out ceremony of the 21st basic course of ASPs the interior minister said on Monday the government was actively considering reforms to make police more public friendly.

The Focal Group constituted by the present government to make recommendations on police reforms has submitted its report to the government which is under active consideration, he said.

The minister said, a study of the past reports shows that extraneous influence has been one of the major impediments in policing, adding, but this report includes measures which shall provide relief to the public, besides, making the police more public friendly.

He said, for the first time, the report was published in newspapers to solicit views of different segments of the society and an earnest effort has been made to generate a public debate on the issue.ÑAPP
