ICAP seminar
on e-commerce
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Information Technology (IT) experts at a seminar on e-commerce urged the government to strive towards maintaining corporate, fiscal and legal policies to encourage the expansion of e-business and e-services in the country.
The seminar was organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) at the institute premises on Saturday.
Ovais Khan of Systems Limited talked about e-business in business-to-business transactions and business-to-consumer transactions. He said mode of payment was the most important of an e-business module. He further discussed upon e-business opportunities, i.e. innovation in selling of products and services, expansion of market reach, integration with customer business processes, growth in transaction volumes and the strengthening of customer relationships.
Shabbar Zaidi of A.F. Ferguson spoke on the e-commerce tax perspective. He said that as revenue generated from online sales was income it would be taxed as business income and site licences could be issued to solve copyright problems.
