Intellectuals
in India call
for resumption
of dialogue
ISLAMABAD: Intellectuals in India have called for early resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan to address the core issue of Kashmir, PTV reported.
Muchkund Dubey, Ex-Foreign Secretary of India said the subcontinent has become one of the most troubled spots in the world and has the potentiality of drifting towards war.
Naturally as a superpower, United States take it as its duty to play its part in defusing the situation and ensuring that this kind of thing does not go out of hand, he added.
The columnist Bhabani Sen Gupta said the Kashmir issue has to be resolved adding, "this is primarily in my view India's obligation.'
There is a politically difficult situation in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, there is an insurgency, he added.
He said to blame Pakistan for every blast or train accident or everything that happens in India is wrong.
Chairman Council for Foreign Policy Institute Dr Ved Pratab Vadic said, "I do see a lot of possibility for the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan and I am a great votary of it."
"Whether Clinton advocates or not we as neighbours must talk to each other directly and we must raise all crucial issues straight away," he added.
Dr Ved Pratab said, India and Pakistan should first raise and eliminate the core issue of Kashmir.
If one appreciates Clinton's going to India or Pakistan then at the same time one should also appreciate the existence of the problem of Kashmir, he added.ÑAPP
