be polio-free

soon: Attiya

LAHORE: Begum Attiya Inayatullah, Member National Security Council on Sunday said dream of polio-free Pakistan would be achieved very soon with the joint collaboration of health workers and donor agencies.

She said dedicated efforts are being made to eliminate polio, a crippling disease among the children in society and lauded efforts of the Health Department and donor agencies, who are playing laudable role in this direction.

She further praised generous donation of Japanese government in this behalf and recalled that Japanese government has agreed to provide to Unicef an amount of Rs 324 million to support the eradication of polio in Pakistan.

She was of the view that grant aid vindicates goodwill gesture from the Japanese government to the people of Pakistan and hoped that co-operation would continue in future as well.ÑAPP
