Mahtab, Hoti, Khanzada, Zahir Shah sent to lock-up on remand

PESHAWAR: Two special accountability courts here on Saturday sent a former chief minister of NWFP, Mahtab Ahmed Khan, a former federal minister, Azam Hoti an ex-DG, PDA, Syed Zahir Shah, and a senior bureaucrat Javed Alam Khanzada to lock-up on judicial remand following expiry of their 90-day remand in NAB custody.

Mahtab and Zahir Shah were produced in the court of Syed Maroof Khan.

Mahtab was sent to lock-up on 14-day judicial remand and would be produced before the court on April 7 next. Zahir Shah was remanded to seven days' judicial remand and would be produced before the court on April 3 next.

Azam Hoti and Javed Khanzada were produced in the court of accountability judge Attaullah Khan. Javed was remanded to 14 days judicial remand.

Defence counsel Sardar Khan, advocate, appeared on behalf of Mehtab, while Azam Hoti was represented by Qazi Mohammad Anwar, advocate. Salim Dil Khan appeared on behalf of Zahir Shah.

Prosecutor Fazal Karim Khan informed the court that one reference each had been filed by the NAB against Mahtab and Azam Hoti in the Accountability Court, Attock. Hearing of these references would start shortly in the court, he said.ÑAPP
