Indian women delegation arrives

LAHORE: A 36-member delegation of the Indian women belonging to various walks of life was accorded warm welcome on arrival here on Saturday evening by 'Pak-India Friendship Bus Service.'

The activists of Pak-India Forum, Institution of Women Studies, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), Democratic Commission for Human Development and Aurat Foundation received the Indian delegation.

Members of the Indian delegation said that they came to Pakistan with messages of peace, brotherhood, harmony and friendship.

They asserted that all the issues hanging between India and Pakistan should be resolved through dialogues.

Those who received the Indian women delegation included Dr. Mubashir Hassan, Asma Jehangir, Hina Gillani, Shah Taj, Gulnar and various women rights activists.

Speaking on the occasion, Asma said: 'We open-heartedly received our Indian sisters carrying hopes and a message for peace. She said that the Indian women arrived at the critical moment, when intolerant forces on both sides of the border are bent upon for even more violence. Their courage to defy these forces will be met with equal commitment by women here.

Both Indians and Pakistanis were blessed with diverse cultures, ethnicity and religions. All were worth of respect. They should be our strength rather than our weakness, she added.
