Four killed in cargo plane crash in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO: Four crew were killed when a Russian-made An-12 cargo plane crashed in a residential area on approach to Sri Lanka's only international airport, police said.

Two other crew members were in serious condition in hospital while two others were missing, police said.

Some 12 houses were damaged when the plane, on a flight from Bangkok, crashed in heavy rain on Friday just short of the airport at Katunayake, some 21 km north of the capital Colombo.

Four people on the ground were injured.-Reuters
