'Dependence on
home resources
guarantees
development'
QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Planning and Development Agha Abdul Qadir Baloch has said only dependence on country's own resources could guarantee its development.
Talking to a World Bank Mission that called on him under the leadership of Sakwa Banyasi here on Saturday he said that alongside the financial assistance from international agencies, strengthening of country's domestic resources was the need of the hour.
He said nature has bestowed upon the country tremendous resources but despite all this, it had to see towards international agencies for its development need. To meet this challenge, Pakistan had to adopt such policies and strategy that could lessen its dependence on these organisations and enable it to repay their dues on time.
He said the present government had given priority to potable over other needs, then came irrigation and communications sectors.
The minister said the World Bank assistance for development of water resources in the province was of greater value and there was a need to accelerate the pace of work on these projects.
He asked the mission to help the province in projects that could bring about revolutionary changes in the life of the people.
The mission leader lauded the steps taken by the government to speed up work on the WB assisted projects.ÑAPP
