ADBP employees demand audit, sports directorate budget

RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: The employees of the Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan have expressed their concern over poor performance of sports directorate and demanded of the Chairman for audit of its budget and restructuring of it.

The employees on Saturday also demanded to impose a ban on release of huge amount being spent on the directorate.

They stated that the present sports directorate has failed to achieve the best results in all the major sports like cricket. They said the cricket team of the bank was on top at the national level and had won a number of champion trophies a couple of years ago. But the present set-up of the directorate has ignored all of its responsibilities and demoralised the team by inducting outsiders in the team.

The employees said there is no dearth of best players in the bank, but they are not given chances to play matches.

The directorate is misusing funds and appointing non-professional coaches and officials for the team, they added.

They said the cricket team of the bank had been beaten in the National Bank One-day Tournament on Friday last by a local-land level team and shocked the employees of the bank. The poor result was due to the wrong and negative policies of the directorate, they alleged.

They further alleged that the policies of the directorate have discouraged the players and some of them have decided to quit the team.

The employees have demanded immediate revamping of the sports directorate, appointment of three members committee of senior players of the bank for appointments and review the performance of coaches and team, ban on outsiders in the team, selection of team on merit by a committee, and audit of sports budget in the best interest of the bank.
