112,593 tractors

to farmers

LAHORE: Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP) has provided 112,593 tractors to the farmers throughout the country during the last seven years, says a press release issued here on Friday.

The ADBP under a special subsidised scheme is funding the supply of 1,000 tractors to the farming community of Balochistan. Out of 941 supply orders issued by ADBP, of 791 tractors has been delivered during the financial year 1999. Moreover, a special package of Rs 750 million has also been announced to finance the sinking of tubewells in the province.

Recently, the Bank organised the marketing of 85 units of combine harvesters and 11 mobile seed processing plants imported from Germany under Japanese KR-II Grant through cash/credit cover.

Under the same grant, the government has made arrangements for the import of 574 units of 54 HP tractors from Turkey which will be marked by ADBP also through cash/credit cover.
