Building laws
ABAD plea to be taken
into confidence
KARACHI: The Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) has said implementation of recommendations purported to have been made by the sub-committee as to the updating of building by-laws would be a worthless exercise if it was carried out without taking Abad into confidence.
In a SOS to the Corps Commander and Sindh Governor the Abad Regional Chairman Zahid Ali Rizvi, said the association has reliably learnt that the sub-committee has revised the whole recommendations submitted by the original main committee.
The sub-committee, he said, was now trying to get the same implemented without obtaining concurrence from the main committee which had been working on the modification and unification of building by-laws and zoning regulations.
The committee was comprised representative of PEC (Engineer), representative of PCATP (Architect), representative of PICRP (Town Planning) and representative of Abad (Builder/developer).
Rizvi feared that back-door tactics were being employed to blackmail the builders/developers and to impose a set of rules by those who have no stake in the business.
Abad, which is an association in the private sector and is mainly concerned with building activities has not been provided even a copy of the said recommendations so far inspite of its repeated requests.
Rizvi sought indulgence of the provincial high-ups with a request to them to instruct the authorities concerned not to implement the recommendations for which the sub-committee has not taken any concurrence from the main committee and also without showing draft to Abad.ÑAPP
