3 children among 4 killed in Indian firing

Muzaffarabad: Four people including three children were killed and four injured by Indian artillery shelling from across the LoC in Neelum and Leepa valleys on Thursday, officials said.

They said Indian army pounded Ashkot and Lala villages of Jura sector of remote subdivision Aathmuqam with heavy artillery and mortars on Thursday evening. Artillery shells hit two houses in Ashkot village killing three children and wounding three others of two families.

Children who killed were identified as Jabina, 10, daughter of Ghulam Hussian her two years old sister, Nagina, and Ajyab Hussian 5 son of Ghulam Mustafa, 5.

Hashmina 4, daughter of Ghulam Hussian, Mahzir 9, son of Ghulam Mustafa, Mumtaz 8, son of Ghulam Hussian, were critically wounded.

Two house were also damaged.

Another girl identified as Zarina 11, daughter of Ghulam Ahmed, was wounded in Lala village of Aathmuqam.

All the injured were admitted in MDS Jhimber.

An official said that Indian army fired 50 artillery and mortar shells from across the LoC on Ashkot and its neighbouring villages on Thursday evening. Pakistan Army in retaliation effectively hit selective targets of the enemy inflicting casualties and material losses to them.

In Leepa valley a civilian identified as Mohammed Bashir was killed by Indian firing with automatic weapons on Thursday.
